What was it I was going to say? Hmmmmm. Can't recall...
Oh right, that's what it was - your pants are on fire.

I love it when the Jacaranda trees are in bloom. I love saying the word - "JACARANDA" - as if it were a place I lived... "Where are you from?" Oh me? I'm from JACARANDA.
I realize these trees are not uniquely "Hawaiian", but the Big Island is the only place I've ever seen them. They're beautiful, and there's something wild about a purple tree. Some people would say they're blue. I see purple. Majestically beautiful, and yet other-worldly - like I've stepped into a cartoon; a "Roger Rabbit" movie.
It's also amazing the way they can carpet the ground with purple blossoms. You can see a panorama of one by clicking the tab on the home page (unless you're too late and it's been replaced).

Loved learning the name of
Loved learning the name of that beautiful tree! I just enjoyed its beauty in two places: near San Miguel de Allende in Mexico and in the residential areas of Los Angeles! It DOES grow in places other than Hawaii!
I'll bet it fits in well
I'll bet it fits in well with the colors of San Miguel de Allende. What a treat that must be! Did you take any pictures?
Shortly after I arrived on the Big Island I was telling someone about "the most incredible trees" and they let me know Jacarandas were "all over Southern Calif". Wikipedia shows that they're in many parts of the world.
There used to be a HUGE Jacaranda south of Kailua-Kona. It was MAGESTIC, and it had a swing in it. The type with two long ropes and a board across the bottom. I drove by it when it was in full bloom many times and every time told myself "Stop - take a picture!" - but I didn't and one day it was just gone. Not a branch or blossom left. I even felt confused, as if I wasn't looking in the right place. Someone later told me that there was concern that it may fall on the road, so it had to be removed.
